OPEN CLASS
Whether you're a beginner or an advanced yogi, the Open class encompasses all levels at Jivamukti. You work at your own pace, following the teacher's constant guidance. A typical Open class consists of flowing vinyasa sequences partnered with some Sanskrit chanting, traditional and contemporary teachings and commentary, breath awareness, meditation, hands-on alignment, and relaxation. We do sitting, standing, and inverted postures, and suggest challenging variations for more advanced students. Exuberant, eclectic music plays an integral role; in a typical Open class you might practice to a shifting soundtrack of ragas, global trance, Beatles, the chanting of Krishna Das, Van Morrison, and Gregorian chants.
BASIC CLASS
The Basic Class is nice if you haven’t tried Jivamukti Yoga before. Here you receive an introduction to Jivamukti Yoga; we move a little slower than in the Open Class and spend more time making sure we get the asanas and the breathing right. Also suitable for more experienced Jivamukti yogis who want to take it slow.
JIVAMUKTI RESTORATIVE
Sometimes you just want to relax and re-energize. In the restorative version of a JIvamukti Class we go through the essential Jivamukti postures but modify them using blocks, blankets and belts. We also hold asanas longer to make the class a perfect complement to more intense vinyasa classes. Calming, grounding yet uplifting it’s a perfect way to re-juvenate.
LUNCH CLASS
With a little less time we double the fun! We go through all the foundations of the Open Class, including a vigorous asana, pranayama, discussions on yoga and meditation, but at an upbeat pace and a soundtrack that will put a smile on your face. A perfect way to spend your lunch hour.
